Courageous work on behalf of Coaster Kings (CK). It would be fair to say Universal has been hard at work for over a year clearing/levelling land for their all-new theme park Epic Universe (EU).
Last week, Universal filed construction plans for the Super Nintendo World section of the new theme park with Orange County Government. Thanks to a public records request by CK, they’ve gained the area’s site plan.
Officially revealed in August, EU is speculated to have a number of themed lands, one of which being Super Nintendo World. Back in 2015, Universal and Nintendo first revealed their partnership and promised to bring Nintendo attractions to all of Universal’s theme parks.
Construction is well underway already at Universal Studios Japan, with their version of Super Nintendo World opening in 2020. ALSO! Universal Studios Hollywood has also started construction on their rumoured Super Nintendo attractions, however no official announcement has been made about their opening date. Please bare that in mind!
Universal Studios Singapore is getting in on the act as well! They have revealed plans to add Nintendo attractions in the coming years. All the Universal parks are getting in on the Nintendo act it would be fair to say!
Universal Orlando’s version was set to replace Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone at Universal Studios Florida originally. Plans were filed back in July 2017, however as focus turned to Universal’s all-new theme park, it appears these plans were cancelled and Super Nintendo was moved to EU.
According to CK, it was no surprise that this was the first section of EU to go into permitting. CK also suggests these new plans are somewhat the same to the plans1 filed back in 2017.

1: The plans appear to have just been rotated around 180° clockwise and modified to fit within the layout of EU.

It’s safe to say there’s not much that’s new or interesting to look at. However, if you want to get a better idea of what the new land will look, Orlando Park Stop has an magnificent article which includes leaked shots of the model, which seem to match up nicely with the plans in this article.
“In my opinion, the most exciting thing about these plans is that we can now overlay this section of the park on to the overall infrastructure plan for Epic Universe and begin to get a better picture of what the park will look like. It really puts the overall size and scope of the whole project into perspective!”
