“Everything’s right on track with Epic [Universe]. I’m feeling good about it.”

As construction on Universal Orlando’s new theme park continues, executives remain firm on the 2025 timeline for the debut of Universal’s Epic Universe.

During yesterday’s UBS Global TMT Conference, NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell said the park will open by summer 2025.

“We’re right on track, literally right on track,” Shell said. “We expect to open it in ’25.”

The NBCUniversal CEO also provided an update on Epic Universe’s progress saying that construction hadn’t been impacted by major supply chain issues, with it in the “vertical” phase.

“I was done there a couple of weeks ago and everything’s coming out of the ground,” Shell said. “So all the infrastructure is in, a lot of the steel is in, and now it’s just a question of building [it] out.”

Shell added that the park’s arrival in Orlando is “perfect timing” amid high tourist demand and the opening of Orlando International Airport’s new terminal.

“There’s clearly a demand/supply imbalance, and I think we’re opening a theme park at the right time,” Shell said.

Shell also spoke about Epic Universe’s proximity to the Orange County Convention Center being a possible advantage in terms of attendance,

With the park designed so that guests/visitors can come into one land without having to visit the whole park, Shell hopes Universal Orlando can tap into the “nighttime convention business.”

“It’s going to be an interesting experiment for us,” Shell said.
