Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Voyages Only at 25% Occupancy

WDWNT recently reported the falling demand for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at Walt Disney World. According to recent reports (via the established outlet), some of the “latest voyages” have been well under capacity. WDWNT’s reports suggest that a voyage in the upcoming week currently has reservations for 128 guests (it’s a date with rooms still available to book).

FYI: The building that houses the immersive Star Wars experience has 100 guest rooms, including 94 standard cabins, four Galaxy Class Suites, and two Grand Captain Suites. The maximum capacity for the Galactic Starcruiser is 502 guests.

Due to the low occupancy, Cast Members (servers in particular) are losing hours. It’s fair to suggest that a loss of hours potentially means that staff could leave for other jobs. Just before the Galactic Starcruiser opened, Disney reportedly struggled to recruit experienced servers.

On a normal night aboard the Galactic Starcruiser, two dinner services typically take place. Guests (aka passengers) are split between service one and service two rotating with their other activities. For some of the upcoming voyages, occupancy is so low that only one dinner service will take place.

According to the established outlet, one dinner service for 128 guests will reportedly have just 10 servers working. Each server will be responsible for 12 guests approximately, which is two to three times less than on a normal evening, according to WDWNT. Galactic Starcruiser gratuities are prepaid in the booking fees.

This also means that the actors portraying the characters are only performing once nightly rather than twice.

Both dinner services offer the chance to pay extra to be seated at the Captain’s Table. The reduced services mean that there’s only one chance to book the Captain’s Table each night, limiting the number of guests who may purchase the experience.

Despite positive reactions, some negative reactions continued, including the use of a box truck transport to Batuu and the $6,000 average price point.

According to the established outlet, there have been enough vacancies on recent Galactic Starcruiser voyages. Walt Disney World recently hosted travel agents for a free three-day, two-night experience.

Even though guests on board may enjoy the smaller crowds and find it easier to have personalised interactions with the characters, the low demand has brought concerns for the future of the experience.
