Remembering When: Woman Arrested After Throwing Punches at Guest Outside Entrance of Jurassic World VelociCoaster

Back in July, a woman was arrested after she threw punches during a fight outside the entrance of Jurassic World VelociCoaster after someone cut in line and spilled a drink on her.

According to an Orlando Police Department (OPD) arrest report, Shaeika Allen was arrested for battery on the 9th July, 2021 (a day before the grand opening of Universal’s Islands of Adventure newest roller coaster).

When the altercation occurred, Jurassic World VelociCoaster was in soft opening.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman, told OPD that her brother tried to cut under the queue line rope to stand in line with her.

As her brother went under the rope, his drink spiked out of his backpack and landed on Allen who was standing behind them. According to the report, Allen struck the 19-year-old in the face.

The 19-year-old wasn’t seriously injured, however, had bruises and a cut that needed stitches or glue to heal, the report said.

OPD obtained surveillance video that caught part of the altercation, which also involved Allen’s niece.

In the video, the two groups traded words outside of the entrance to Jurassic World VelociCoaster on a busy afternoon. The video also shows Islands of Adventure guests walking by.

OPD said the video showed Allen’s niece was the “primary aggressor” who shoved the 19-year-old first. The brother of the 19-year-old tried to intervene to stop the fight, but Allen escalated the situation, the report said.

“Allen threw multiple closed fist strikes with one of them striking (the victim) on the left side of her face,” the arrest report said.

Shortly after the altercation, Allen started to walk towards the exit of Islands of Adventure where police stopped her. She was arrested and taken to Orange County Jail.

At the time, Allen was charged with first-degree misdemeanor battery. According to the Orange County Circuit Court online records, the case against Allen is now closed (find out more here).

From what we can see, no charges were filed against the niece of Allen. Stay tuned for more Remembering When articles, only on Orlando Theme Park Zone.
