It would be fair to say delayed boarding is a common occurrence with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (SW: ROTR), as the technologically advanced attraction has frequently faced breakdowns.
SW: ROTR suffered its biggest opening delay to date today at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Hollywood Studios).
Hollywood Studios opened at 7:00am, boarding groups were fully distributed by 7:20am and backup boarding groups were fully distributed by 9:13am. However, boarding never actually started for SW: ROTR.
The morning “passed” without a single boarding group being called. At approximately 2:12pm, the first boarding groups of the day were called, Groups 12 – 24.
The reason for the delay is unknown at this time, however, WDWNT’s Jessica Figueroa penned an interesting reason why:
“Orlando is experiencing record low temperatures today, which is often the cause of many mechanical malfunctions (that attractions are not impervious to.) A number of the attraction’s pre-shows wind in and out of exterior areas exposed to the elements.”
If you had the chance to secure a boarding group today, please keep in mind that due to the prolonged opening delay, there may be long lines to experience the attraction.
It would be fair to suggest backup boarding groups might not be accommodated today at all.
