2 Cast Members have been named Jungle Cruise Skippers of the Year at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. This honour is no joke! Their photos are part of the show!
Jay Friesner, an Attractions Host at the Jungle Cruise and Richard Reyes, Food & Beverage Coordinator at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen (Skipper Canteen), were both nominated and chosen by their peers for representing the best attributes of a Skipper.
Photos of Friesner and Reyes were captured and aged by Walt Disney Imagineering to fit into the 1930s timeframe of both locations.
Magic Kingdom guests can see these photos on the Skipper of the Year plaques located inside the queue for the Jungle Cruise and along the Skipper Canteen.
This particular tradition was started last year as a unique recognition program for Cast Members in that particular area. Watch the pair show off their plaques in the video below:
