According to a recently filed lawsuit (via Fox 35 Orlando – F35O), a woman is suing Walt Disney World after she said she lost consciousness and suffered a brain injury after riding a water slide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.
Laura Reyes-Merino visited Typhoon Lagoon on the 11th May and rode Humunga Kowabunga, according to the lawsuit (via F35O).
According to the lawsuit (via F35O), Merino said she went unconscious after “banging inside the slide.” She added that her fiancé found her limp and bleeding from the mouth at the end of the slide.
Her fiancé asked for help from a lifeguard, but there weren’t any, according to the lawsuit (via F35O).
“Eventually a lifeguard came and say they couldn’t help or touch Plaintiff either and called an ambulance. Had Defendant had lifeguards at the end of the rice to watch and help guests coming off the ride, Plaintiff’s brain injury would have not occurred as she wouldn’t have been drowning in the water coughing up blood,” the lawsuit said (via F35O).
Merino said that Typhoon Lagoon failed to keep the premises safe and didn’t warn her about a dangerous condition, the lawsuit added (via F35O).
According to the lawsuit (via F35O), she is suing Disney for a minimum of $50,000 in damages. Stay tuned for further updates.
