Orlando Free Fall at ICON Park Will Be Taken Down Permanently Following Tyre Sampson’s Death

The Orlando Free Fall ride at ICON Park will be taken down permanently following the death of Tyre Sampson in March.

For those who might not know, the teenager died after falling from the ride on the 24th March, 2022.

Orlando SlingShot officially announced this decision today.

“We are devastated by Tyre’s death. We have listened to the wishes of Tyre’s family and the community, and have made the decision to take down the FreeFall,” Ritchie Armstrong, Orlando SlingShot Group CEO, said in a statement.

Armstrong said the company will also be creating a scholarship in the teenagers name. He also said the timeline for the ride’s dismantling has not been determined at this time.

Officials for ICON Park said they support the decision to take the ride down.

“Tyre’s death is a tragedy that we will never forget. As the landlord, ICON Park welcomes and appreciates Orlando’s Slingshot’s decision to take the ride down,” ICON Park said in a statement.
