Having been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have learnt that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be opening at EPCOT on Memorial Day weekend.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be Walt Disney World’s first reverse-launch roller coaster. Furthermore, it will also feature a new Walt Disney Imagineering innovation: a storytelling coaster that rotates 360 degrees.
According to WDWNT, the story will start in the Galaxarium, where guests are invited to learn more about Xander. The Guardians of the Galaxy interrupt and the adventure begins.
Geoff Morrell, Disney Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, unintentionally revealed the opening day news in a since-deleted tweet. You can read what Morrell accidentally posted below:
“Just another day at the office — got to “test ride” the new @Guardians of the Galaxy rollercoaster at @EpcotCentre. @WaltDisney Imagineers designed this one like no other ride you’ve ever been on. Have to die it to believe it! Check it out starting Memorial Day weekend.”

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind replaces Universe of Energy, which closed at EPCOT in 2017. You can find all our coverage on the upcoming EPCOT storycoaster here.
Walt Disney World hasn’t officially confirmed this news, which is why we’ve listed it under rumour.
