As we reported earlier this month, Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be undergoing room refurbishment starting in April.
Whilst Disney hasn’t officially announced the refurbishment and their plans for the rooms, it’s fair to suggest Disney could be revisiting the idea of an Incredibles-themed mid-century modern look for the rooms.
That being said, Blog Mickey has spotted a permit from a major Disney contractor for the upcoming work at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The established outlets says the permit only lists “general construction” as the description of the work, however the contractor listed on the permit could point to extensive work being undertaken.
Hoar Construction is a major Walt Disney World contractor and has worked on a number of projects including New Fantasyland, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and more.
Blog Mickey states the only other work that they know is taking place in the area is the Bay Cove Pool water play area over at Bay Lake Tower.
Work at the water play area is well underway and is set to be completed early next month. The permit has an expiration date of the 31st December, 2021, so it’s fair to suggest that this new permit doesn’t relate to the Bay Cove Pool work.
So, this is what we do know about the Contemporary Resort room refurbishment. Cast Members told Blog Mickey that there will be “limited to no availability” in the resort’s main tower from April 2021 through September 2021, potentially reopening in October 2021.
“That timeline might more closely resemble the scope of work scheduled to be completed before the end of this year in the permit.”Mike, Blog Mickey
It’s also worth suggesting that its possible that this permit could be something else totally. If this permit is for the room refurbishment, it’s fair to say we can expect to see more than just a few new couches when the rooms involved reopen.
