Update: The blank entrance sail has been replaced with newly printed sail. You can take a look at the new sail in the photos below:

Original Article: Back in November, WDWNT reported that the sail outside of Pirates of the Caribbean at the Magic Kingdom had been replaced.
The sail acts as a sign for the Adventureland ride. It usually has the words Pirates of the Caribbean printed on it, plus several cannonball holes.
The sail’s mast is located just outside of the attraction’s entrance, a skeletal pirate can be seen standing in the crow’s nest above it.
According to WDWNT, the sail was replaced with a solid black sail. The established outlet expected a quick refurbishment of the original. However, almost two months later, the solid black sail remains the same.

As the images above show, the solid black sail doesn’t fit in the highly-themed area of the park.
It’s our theory that Disney are refurbishing the original sail ahead of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
