Our thoughts, prayers and love are with Brandt’s family at this time. Pohaku ʻo Kauai ke nānā aku iā Walt.
Kau’i Brandt, a longtime Cast Member at Disney’s Polynesian Village, has passed away. Brandt’s family posted the following on Facebook:
“It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our family matriarch, Kau’ihealani Mahikoa Brandt.”
Brandt, also known as “Aunty Kaui”, was a cultural ambassador at the resort, usually welcoming guests as they made their way around.
Guests could usually find her making leis or giving hula lessons. Brandt moved to California in 1971 to perform in a Polynesian show at Disneyland.
Some months later, Brandt moved to Florida to open a similar show at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, where she had been a “fixture” ever since.
“Though our hearts are heavy with grief we are eternally grateful to God for blessing us with her amazing life and countless deposits of love, concern and care for all whom she encountered.”
