As part of the marketing push to publicise Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney aired a 2-hour special (behind-the-scenes) on Freeform, their television channel, called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Adventure Awaits.
Disney produced a cinematic journey through Batuu that introduced guests to every element of the recently opened lands including; food and flying.
During the special, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products chairman, Bob Chapek revealed some interesting news whilst he was describing the headliner attraction for the land – Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Initial rumours suggested that the ride would be a nearly 30-mintue experience, however Disney was quick to shut that rumour down to manage expectations for the ride.
It won’t be 30 minutes long, however it will defiantly put you in the middle of the action longer than the roughly 5 minute long ride presently open in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
As Chapek was describing the ride, he said that the experience would be 15 minutes long – relating quote can be read below.
“Imagine being chased for 15 minutes by Kylo Ren and the First Order. Stormtroopers everywhere, Lightsabers coming at you. It’s going to be fantastic.”Bob Chapek, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman
The ride is due to open on the 5th December, 2019. However, rumours have suggested a delay may be announced… We’ll leave that there!
