What the duck! A woman is demanding $50,000 from SeaWorld after her day at SeaWorld Orlando took a turn for the worse.
The lawsuit, which was filed on Monday 27th October, says the woman was riding SeaWorld Orlando’s Mako back in March when a duck flew into the coaster’s path, hitting her in the face. The woman said she was knocked unconscious by the collision.
“[SeaWorld] created a zone of danger for the bird strikes due to…placing the roller coaster over or near a body of water, which creates a higher risk of bird strikes involving ducks, gulls, and other waterfowl,” the complaint said (via WFTV).

The lawsuit (via WFTV) also claimed the SeaWorld Orlando roller coaster disoriented birds and the risk of collision. WFTV reached out to SeaWorld Olando for comment,
Mako has been the subject of lawsuits about flying objects. If true, this appears to be the first flying duck incident. Stay tuned for possible updates.
Update: Both SeaWorld and John Morgan (Morgan & Morgan) have released statements:
SeaWorld
“The safety of our guests and employees is a top priority and we take these situations seriously. We will not be commenting beyond that as this is pending litigation.”
SeaWorld
John Morgan, Morgan & Morgan
“SeaWorld knew or should have known of this dangerous condition, as this was not the first reported bird collision to occur on one of their roller coasters this year. SeaWorld allegedly dangerously positioned a high-speed coaster over a man-made lake teeming with birds. We’re here to get justice for our client and ensure this allegedly dangerous design is fixed, permanently.”

The woman, named Hillary R. Martin, is seeking a trial by Jury. You can find out more here.
