Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure will be closed for the “foreseeable future.”

Inside Universal forum user and Orlando theme park enthusiast tommyhawkins posted the following:

“It’s down for the foreseeable future. Trying to get a handle on what’s wrong though.”

According to several reports, the VelociCoaster has been down for the last few days. One user of the well-established Universal-themed forum posted the following:

“SOOO, Velocicoaster has seemingly been having a lot of issues recently? I went to UOR over the weekend and on Saturday, the ride was down from around 9:30am to 4:30pm, and when it reponed, it was only running two trains with the output of it were four trains.

I was stalking the app all day for a chance to ride, and despite rushing over as soon as it seemed to go back up, the line was already posted at 180 minutes. We attempted to wait but only moved about 50 – 100 feet in 40 minutes as Express was backed up, so we ended up leaving for the day. On Sunday, it still seemed to be operating with two trains but was at least up for more of the day.

Unfortunately, it was raining in the morning so my party didn’t want to risk a thunderstorm emptying the line, and we waited until around 4:30pm to get in line again. After 15 minutes, downtime began, and after 15 more, the line emptied and the ride closed for the day at 5:00pm.” You can read more of the user’s post here.

It’s unclear what the issue is at this time. Stay tuned for further updates.

Update #2: Inside Universal forum user JustLikeMe posted the following seven mintues ago:

‘Just talked to one of the employees. They said something pretty bad happened few days ago while testing and the ride will be closed until further notice. They said it should be back up in a week, maybe even longer.’

Update #3: Inside Universal posted the following on X:

Update #4: Further information from tommyhawkins:

“To give a bit more information from what I can find out, rather than speculating about something “bad happening” which is very unprofessional of a TM.

From what I understand it’s a culmination of it basically needing a full scheduled maintenance to get things back on track (no pun intended). The ride hasn’t had one since it one since it opened 2 and a half years ago, has run more times than some entire other parks coasters combined, combined with the fact it’s crazy fast obviously.

I don’t think anyone has ever been in danger and the people who are quick to rave about it are the same to run their mouth off about Intamin the moment it has downtime.”

Update #5: Universal Parks News Today has today posted the following video of the VelociCoaster train cycling the track this morning.

Update #6: Following multiple reports, VelociCoaster has reopened following a four-day closure. It’s unclear at this stage what the issue was.
