Worker Dies After Falling from Orlando StarFlyer Attraction

A 21-year-old man fell 200 feet to his death this morning (U.S. EST) while conducting a safety check on the Orlando StarFlyer attraction, deputies said.

The fatal accident was reported around 7:40am at ICON Park on International Drive. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the man was climbing the tower when he fell to the bottom platform.

Orange County Fire Rescue said the work was about halfway up the 450-feet, dubbed the world’s tallest swing ride, when he fell onto the platform. We can assume that he fell almost 250 feet, going by the above-mentioned information.

Rescue officials said crews used a platform truck to get to the man, who went into cardiac arrest. The 21-year-old man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, when he was pronounced dead, officials revealed.

No other details have been released at this time.
