If you haven’t had the opportunity to get a boarding group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (SW: ROTR) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Hollywood Studios), you’re in luck! A new set of “backup” alternatives have been released at Hollywood Studios.
New leaflets given out to guests this morning advertising “backup boarding groups”. See in the image below:
When the initial boarding group distribution for SW: ROTR has reached capacity, you’ll have the chance to join a backup boarding group that will only be called if all of the initial boarding groups have been called back and “there is capacity for more riders in the evening time”1 .

On the status page of your My Disney Experience virtual queue, you’ll find “see below” under the “estimated wait”. You will then have the chance to join a backup boarding group by following the on-screen prompts.
Please make sure your notifications are on for the My Disney Experience app because that is how you will be made aware that backup boarding groups have opened up.
Please remember, SW: ROTR capacity is limited and “given that” backup boarding groups may not even open up, it is highly recommended that you arrive at Hollywood Studios at 6:00 – 6:30am.
