A new Notice of Commencement (NOC/permit) for new signage for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at the Magic Kingdom has been filed by Walt Disney imagineering (WDI).
The NOC, which was filed with Orange County, lists Design Communication ltd as contractor. WDI regularly works with the company on marquees and exterior signage throughout Walt Disney World.
Work is described as “install signage.” This permit suggests that new exterior signage for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will appear in Tomorrowland in the next few weeks/months.
The extensive refurbishment of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is almost complete. The Tomorrowland-located attraction closed for a major update in August 2025.
It will reopen with new scenes, redesigned vehicles, and more in Spring 2026. The opening scene of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been overhauled completely.
The new scene introduces Buddy, a new support robot created by WDI and Pixar. Buddy readies guests for their mission with system checks, encouragement, and the opportunity to test updated interactive targets.
Ride vehicles now have a Star Command styling and onboard screens which display real-time scoring. The original blasters have been removed and replaced by handheld versions that offer a better aim. The new blasters include vibration, sound effects, and laser to help track your shots.
Interactive targets throughout Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin now react and light up when hit, giving a clearer signal. Disney has not announced a specific reopening date, stay tuned for further updates.
