The Cinderella Castle repainting project at Magic Kingdom has begun. A notice on the My Disney Experience app and official Walt Disney World website today confirmed it was underway.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the notice says, “Cinderella Castle is currently undergoing a magical transformation.”
The castle is getting a new colour palette inspired by its classic/original appearance. Disney revealed the plans for this project at Destination D23 event in August 2025.
The first part of this project will be draining the moat surrounding Cinderella Castle. This will allow crew access to lower portions of the castle and prepare the areas that need painting.
Cranes will be used to reach higher sections of Cinderella Castle. Disney hopes to lower and remove the cranes from view by noon each day, limiting the impact on daytime park guests’ experiences and photos.
Starting on the 28th January, 2026, Disney will make temporary adjustments on some of the entertainment offering.
The Let the Magic Begin welcome show will run in a modified format during the repainting of Cinderella Castle. Disney has confirmed that Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire and Happily Ever After will continue as normal, with only slight adjustments made as needed.
There is currently no end date for the entertainment changes, but they’re expected to remain in place whilst exterior work on the castle continues. Additionally, there is currently no completion date for the project. Stay tuned for further coverage.
