Approximately 21 hours ago, X user @bioreconstruct posted a number of new and detailed aerial photos which show the construction progress of the Monstropolis roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Hollywood Studios).

With that being said, let’s take a look at the aerial photos @bioreconstruct has posted.

PLEASE NOTE: Original captions for the photos will be provided (find at the bottom of the article). This will allow you, the reader, to know what you’re looking at. Additionally, click on the images to enlarge.

Dirt around the hole is then excavated, which then leaves a pillar. The pillars are then cut to height (left of Image #6). Dirt is then levelled for concrete to be poured on top.

Disney hasn’t announced the opening date for the upcoming Hollywood Studios land, but the name of it has been confirmed. According to X user @DrewDisneyDude (Drew Smith), Monstropolis is the official name for the land.

Back in November 2024, Disney confirmed that a Monsters, Inc. land, including a roller coaster, themed dining, and a new “Monstro Theater”, would replace the former Grand Avenue and Muppets Courtyard sections of Hollywood Studios.

Data (including labelled maps) from Central Florida Tourism Oversight District offered a first look at the size and location of the upcoming Monsters, Inc. roller coaster.

According to Blog Mickey, the building housing the roller coaster will be one of the largest at Walt Disney World.

“The building will be the largest attraction building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and one of the largest attraction buildings at all of Walt Disney World – surpassing buildings built for the nearby Rise of the Resistance attraction, Avatar Flight of Passage, Tron Lightcycle Run, and many others.”

Disney shared an animatic look at the roller coaster back in March. You can watch the 45-second animatic below.
