SeaWorld Orlando announced Sunday (21st December, 2025) that Katina, one of its “beloved” killer whales, died at the age of 50 following a period of declining health,

According to SeaWorld, Katina’s condition had deteriorated in last few weeks as she entered her geriatric years. Animal care and medical teams monitored her around the clock but ultimately prioritised her comfort and welfare.

SeaWorld described Katina as having a “big personality, including being known for her tendency to stick her tongue out and enjoying the speed swim to create a cyclone of water.”

For years, Katina “awed and inspired millions of guests to learn more about the species,” SeaWorld said.

“This is an incredibly difficult time for those who knew and loved Katina,” SeaWorld said in a post on their official Facebook page.

SeaWorld added, “We appreciate the support of the community as we grieve her loss together with her loyal fans everywhere.”
