A new Notice of Commencement (NOC/permit) for work on the Muppets Reimagining of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Hollywood Studios) has been filed by Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI).
The permit lists Mecca Productions as the assigned contractor, with work being described as “install set elements.” Mecca Productions has been and is currently involved in major projects at Walt Disney World.
FYI: This permit could relate to work taking place in the attraction’s pre-show area, which is already blocked off. The pre-show is set for extensive changes as part of the reimagining, which will see a new set and Muppet audio-animatronics (including Scooter).
According to WDWMagic, Mecca Productions worked on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and is working on the Indiana Jones reimagining of DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The filing of this permit is a clear sign that changes are now happening inside the attraction ahead of its reimagining into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
Disney has confirmed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close on the 2nd March, 2026, with its final day of operation on the 1st March, 2026. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will set for summer 2026 opening.
