Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser was Disney’s most ambitious immersive resort hotel concept, which offered a two-night Star Wars themed stay. It was open for one year (March 2022 to September 2023). Whilst it received praise for storytelling innovation, sales struggled following an initial wave of interest. It’s worth noting that the price of a cabin was $5,200.
Following its permanent closure, Josh D’Amaro (Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman) acknowledged that the concept represented a creative leap forward but “didn’t work commercially.” Months after it closed, it was confirmed that the building would be converted into offices for Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI). The conversion is well underway (as Image #4 shows).
