Eyewitnesses have described the distressing moment they heard a “huge bang” as guest jumped to her death at Disney’s Contemporary Resort (Contemporary Resort) after flying to Florida without her loved ones.
Summer Equitz died at the Contemporary Resort after jumping from a 12th-floor balcony in front of shocked guests and Cast Members on the 14th October 2025.
A married couple who was staying at the Contemporary Resort describe the moment that Equitz landed just 30 feet from where they were standing on the fourth-floor observation deck.
According to an Orange County Sheriff’s Office incident report (via New York Post – NYP), “They were standing on the balcony outside by the chairs looking out at the view when they head a loud noise and turned to see a female laying on the ground….estimated 10 yards away.”
One of the eyewitnesses “moved closer to see if she was breathing, which she did not appear to be,” the report stated (via NYP).
Another eyewitness described seeing “a person out of the corner of her eye and heard a huge bang.” A Cast Member had been on the 15th-floor observation deck with a fellow Cast Member when Equitz jumped from three floors below.
“When he got to the 12th floor, [he] discovered a blue tote bag resting against the steel rail guard,” the report stated (via NYP).
