CFTOD Document Shows Layout of Monsters, Inc. Roller Coaster and Electrical Service Yard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

A recently released document (read here) by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) 9provides a public look at the infrastructure plans for Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Listed as Agenda Item 7.5 in the CFTOD Board of Supervisors meeting materials for the 24th October, 2025, the document outlines a Developer Agreement for Construction of Electrical Infrastructure to Service Project L.

Service Project L is likely the internal label for Monstropolis. According to the document, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc. (WDPR) will design, permit, and fully fund the construction of the new electrical infrastructure to support Project L. This will include the following:

  • An electric service yard
  • An underground duct bank and direction drill system
  • Three separate service yard areas adjacent to the main development

The document also details the layout of the electrical system, which includes faint plans of the new Monsters, Inc. roller coaster. The upcoming roller coaster is located in the former backstage parking lot.

This agreement also allows CFTOD a permanent easement over the Disney-owned property to allow for future operation and maintenance of the infrastructure. Once this is completed and approved, ownership and ongoing management of the utility systems will transfer to the district.

It would be fair to suggest that this documents offer an fascinating look at the development work supporting Monstropolis. We’re fascinated with the entire project.

Disney hasn’t announced the opening date for the upcoming Hollywood Studios land, but the name of it has been confirmed. According to X user @DrewDisneyDude (Drew Smith), Monstropolis is the official name for the land.

Back in November 2024, Disney confirmed that a Monsters, Inc. land, including a roller coaster, themed dining, and a new “Monstro Theater”, would replace the former Grand Avenue and Muppets Courtyard sections of Hollywood Studios.

Data (including labelled maps) from Central Florida Tourism Oversight District offered a first look at the size and location of the upcoming Monsters, Inc. roller coaster.

rding to Blog Mickey, the building housing the roller coaster will be one of the largest at Walt Disney World.

“The building will be the largest attraction building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and one of the largest attraction buildings at all of Walt Disney World – surpassing buildings built for the nearby Rise of the Resistance attraction, Avatar Flight of Passage, Tron Lightcycle Run, and many others.”

Disney shared an animatic look at the roller coaster back in March. You can watch the 45-second animatic below.
