According to a post on Reddit, parents have been seen pressuring their children into Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando’s Universal Studios Florida.
FYI: The information was posted in a thread on the fan-run HHN community page on the social media platform.
Approximately 24 hours ago, u/competingfortitle started the thread ‘Parents at HHN: Please’ with the following:
“This I’m sure happens all the time at every location, but just a note to parents:
It’s not fun for anyone to see a kid, maybe 8-9 years old, freaking out, hating every moment, and sobbing uncontrollably in the middle of the house. Not only does it ruin everyone’s run-through and have everyone else feel sympathetic and nervous for them, but the scare actors are there trying to scare people and make HHN what it is. It’s a huge hindrance to have these adorable kids parent-pressured into walking through a high intensity & scary situation like a HHN house.
And don’t even get me started on the amount of parents I saw pressurising their kid into HHN in baby voices and using [Five Nights at Freddy’s] as the “it’s not scary” card — #1 the kid’s freaked out at the front gate seeing a couple of chainsaw clowns (for me this was USH) and #2 a different kid’s saying “I don’t want to do this” in The Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks of all houses and crying at the first Uncle howdy scare (which got me the first time).
PLEASE, if the kids aren’t ready/don’t want to do it. DON’T pressure them into doing it. If you as parents want to experience HHN fully, find a trusted adult/hire a babysitter/reschedule. Not only does it make your kid afraid of a ton of things, but it also takes away from magic of everything else. Lem them go if/when THEY want to go.”

The thread’s comment section was full of eye-opening observations and opinions. You can read several below:
Comment #1: “…In Orlando last month we saw people with newborns walking around 10:30pm through scare zones. Just idiotic behaviour. I also saw a kid that was probably seven or eight who had a chainsaw that blew bubbles and he and one of the chainsaw crew were running around scaring folks. Kid was having the time of his life. This was probably around 8:30pm. So I think it’s ok to bring kids, but every one is different and I doubt that kid went through all the houses.”

Comment #2: “The amount of Babies and Toddlers I saw at HHN this year was astounding and horrifying.”

Comment #3: “Might be an unpopular opinion but the event should be over 18’s. Or at least over 16’s. The amount of small children there was just weird.”

Comment #4: “I was there on Wednesday and saw 3 of the cat scare actors, in crooked lane, entertaining what looked to be a 1-year-old on the floor? 😭😭 its really such irresponsible parenting! I’m sorry but if you can afford to go to hhn, you can afford a babysitter for the night.”

Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Orlando’s Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood. is not recommended for children under 13. We highly recommend that parents follow this recommendation and plan accordingly.
