Famous civil rights attorney Ben Crump and the family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala spoke this morning following the reopening of Stardust Racers at Universal’s Epic Universe Saturday (4th October, 2025).

Less then three weeks ago, Zavala was found unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers. He died at hospital later on.

Crump, who is Zavala’s attorney, called out a statement by Universal Orlando following the tragic incident, saying “safety is the forefront of everything we do.”

The civil rights attorney criticised the company by saying, “those words ring hollow.” And that he does not believe safety is one of their priorites.

Zavala’s family expressed their disappointment in the reopening of Stardust Racers, asking if Universal Orlando is putting “profits over people.”

They didn’t find out Stardust Racers was reopening until the announcement was made to the public, “They didn’t give that courtesy to this family,” Crump said.

Zavala’s family feels they still haven’t gotten the answers they’re looking for. You can find out more about the tragic incident below:
