According to an Inside Universal forum post by user Alicia, the original demolition permit for Universal Project 555 has been cancelled and refiled under new permit recently. You can read Alicia’s post below:
“Even Universal’s own comment on the matter said, “in the coming months,” so I didn’t presume it would start immediately. Also, the original demo permit was [cancelled]. And refiled under a new permit recently, so they don’t even have the approved permits needed to begin demo work.”

Stay tuned for further updates as the new permit hasn’t been approved yet.
Construction walls were erected in The Lost Continent days after Universal Orlando confirmed in an email statement that “construction activity” in the land will start in the coming months.
Whilst construction plans were confirmed, Universal Orlando didn’t clarify whether this activity would relate to the replacement of the attractions in The Lost Continent.
The statement was released following the news that Universal Orlando had recently filed a permit to demolish 4.9 acres of “theme park site” (original permit) at Islands of Adventure, including attraction, retail and show buildings.
