Back in December 2024, Universal Orlando filed a permit which hinted at the removal and replacement of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. Almost 24 hours after the permit became public knowledge, Universal Orlando confirmed in an X post that Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit would close permanently in September 2025.
In the same X post, Universal Orlando also confirmed that Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit’s closure will make way for a new experience and more details “will be available at a later date.” Rumours prior and after this announcement suggested a new roller coaster will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Going by online speculation and the aerial photos (captured by @bioreconstruct), we can safely assume and unofficially say Universal Studios Florida will be getting a new roller coaster.Back in June 2025, Universal Orlando confirmed that Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit would close permanently on the 18th August, 2025.
Construction walls were erected at the entrance of the roller coaster overnight, and demolition begun on the 20th August, 2025. Demolition was completed by October 2025.
