Universal Orlando has confirmed that “construction activity” is set to start in the coming months at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, more specifically The Lost Continent.

“In the coming months, there will be construction activity in Lost Continent as part of site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments,” Kristen Smith said in an emailed statement to the Orlando Business Journal.

This surprising statement follows the news that Universal Orlando recently filed a permit to demolish 4.9 acres of “theme park site” at Islands of Adventure, including attraction, retail and show buildings. You can find out more here.

Whilst Universal Orlando confirmed the construction plans, they didn’t clarify whether this activity would relate to the replacement of The Lost Continent’s attractions. Stay tuned for further updates.
