A Notice of Commencement (NOC/permit) for the upcoming refurbishment of Spaceship Earth at EPCOT has been filed.
The permit names Engineering Designs Services, LLC as the contractor, with work described as “General Construction.” According to Engineering Design Service’s website, the firm focuses on structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering for themed entertainment projects.
WDWMagic suggests some of the work is potentially related to “ride system maintenance and behind-the-scenes infrastructure.”
Whilst no “show changes” have been announced, recent hints have suggested that the display screens in the ride vehicles may be updated during next month’s refurbishment. The current display screens have remained mainly unchanged since their introduction during Spaceship Earth’s 2008 refurbishment.
Spaceship Earth will close for refurbishment on the 25th August, 2025. A reopening date has not yet been revealed.
