According to WDWNT, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (PVR) has been evacuated and is closed to all guests due to a possible chemical exposure.
Guests riding the resort line of the Walt Disney World Monorail are not being let off at PVR. A number of ambulances, firetrucks, and other emergency vehicles are parked in the PVR parking lot. The vehicles are visible from the Monorail, according to the established outlet.
A WDWNT contributor spoke to guests staying at PVR who said fire alarms went off and they were all escorted out of the resort hotel. At this time, it’s unclear if PVR was fully evacuated, or if it was just specific parts of the resort hotel.
Breakfast dining reservations have been cancelled and no guests are allowed to re-enter PVR at this time.
According to the established outlet, the evacuation and closure of PVR is reportedly due to a chemical exposure. However, this hasn’t been confirmed at this time. Stay tuned for further updates as this is a developing story.
Update: Via Fox 35 Orlando, a Reedy Creek Fire Department (RCFD) spokesperson confirmed that part of PVR was evacuated due to a chemical scare.
According to RCFD, an employee was mixing two chemicals that should not have been mixed. The reaction led to the evacuation of the kitchen.
Firefighters checked the scene and cleared it. Thankfully, no one was injured.
