Following last night’s performance of Harmonious at EPCOT, one of the barges used caught fire on World Showcase lagoon.
Approximately two hours ago, Twitter user @tim_beekman posted a video that shows one of the barges on fire. Watch the video Tim posted below:
As you can see in the above video, plumes of thick black smoke rise from the barge. The barge on fire appears to be one of the fireworks barges docked near the (taco-shaped) multimedia barges.
Response teams arrived on the scene sometime around 9:55pm to try and extinguish the fire. Even though it burned brightly, it was difficult to see from numerous angles around World Showcase lagoon.
Disney later confirmed that the fire only impacted a fireworks launch platform. Via Scott Gusin, Disney released the following brief statement:
“A fireworks launch platform had a contained fire after Friday’s show and was extinguished.”
