According to WDWMagic, Disney has filed a permit with Orange County to start work on the retheme (or “redevelopment”) of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
The permit is for “Project CY1899” with an expiration date of 30th June, 2024. You can take a look at the permit itself below:

The contractor assigned to the project is Belfour Beatty Construction, Disney’s long-term partner/contractor.
In case you didn’t know, Belfour Beatty Construction previously worked on Pandora – The World of AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They also worked on EPCOT’s Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set open at the Magic Kingdom in late 2024, however, Disney hasn’t announced a closure date for Splash Mountain.
“Current estimates suggest a January 2023 closure for Splash Mountain.”
