Seizures, Falls and More Reported at Florida Theme Parks

According to a state report released yesterday, a 14-year-old girl had a seizure on the Incredible Hulk Coaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure during the Thanksgiving holiday.

A week later, a 25-year-old woman had a seizure on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Islands of Adventure.

The illnesses were among numerous listed on the quarterly report compiled by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

In case you don’t know, the major Florida theme parks self-report injuries and illnesses that lead to a hospital stay of at least 24 hours to remain exempt from state inspections.

Yesterday’s report includes injuries and illnesses for the fourth quarter of 2020, October through December.

At Walt Disney World, an 86-year-old woman “tripped and fell” whilst exiting Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The 86-year-old woman injured her head, arm and leg on the 28th October.

A 60-year-old woman “felt ill” after riding Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom on the 21st November.

SeaWorld Orlando reported three incidents for the quarter, with two happened at Aquatica Orlando.

A 28-year-old man injured his back on the water park’s Whanau Way attraction on the 17th November. On the 23rd November, a 44-year-old woman had difficulty breathing at the Cutback Cove, one of the water park’s wave pools.

A 65-year-old man injured his hip on SeaWorld Orlando’s Sea Carousel on the 25th November, according to the report.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Legoland Florida were the only theme parks that didn’t report any injuries or illnesses to the state.
