Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Closing Theme Parks for Rest of March as Coronavirus Concerns Rise

Throughout its time being open, Walt Disney World has closed briefly because of approaching Hurricanes and the 9/11 terrorist attacks, however late Thursday, the company revealed it will close for almost two weeks starting Sunday because of the Coronavirus pandemic. 

The announcement had quite the effect. Around 30 minutes Disney revealed the news, Universal Orlando announced its theme parks would be closing Sunday most likely through the end of the month,also. Universal hotels and Universal CityWalk will stay open. 

SeaWorld Orlando does not have plans to close at the moment and is monitoring the situation, spokeswoman Lori Cherry said late Thursday night. All four Disney World theme parks will close by the end of Sunday, however the hotels and Disney Springs will stay open.

“In an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of our theme parks,” Disney revealed in a statement. “We will continue to stay in close contact with appropriate officials and health experts.”
